The 10 Under 10 award recognizes noteworthy achievements of alumni who earned their first VCU degree, between 2013 and 2022. Nominees are evaluated on their professional success, community contributions or commitment to maintaining a lifelong relationship with the university. While the nominee’s activities and achievements while at VCU can be a factor in your nomination, the award recognizes the accomplishments after earning a degree from VCU.
Along with these core criteria, please consider alumni who also:
- Have unique or distinctive life experiences or career.
- Represent VCU’s diverse alumni population.
As you fill out the form, be prepared to:
- List two or more detailed examples of postgraduation accomplishments that qualify this nominee for the award.
EXAMPLE: In 2020, VCU alumnus #1 used his brand to showcase small businesses to help keep them going during difficult times and also featured safe and socially distanced local attractions. He was recognized as one of the top Instagram influencers in the area. He also volunteered to assemble and donate personal hygiene kits to the Atlantic Outreach Group to help people stay safe during COVID-19.
-Describe two or more specific, real-world examples of how this nominee embodied one or more of VCU's core values.
EXAMPLE 1: VCU alumna #2 exemplified integrity with her passion for education and advocacy for many people of different backgrounds. After she graduated from VCU, she provided DEI training to students, faculty and staff.
EXAMPLE 2: Service/Diversity - VCU alumna #3 served as a fellowship juror and mentor for an art gallery fellowship program, which selects underrepresented and emerging self-identified women and non-binary artists in New York City to develop and exhibit a project at the gallery.
Any person or group affiliated with VCU can submit nominations; you do not have to be VCU alumni. Submit your nomination by March 1st. Questions? Contact Jared Kline, event specialist, at firstname.lastname@example.org
